Data provenance documented across all pages

October 25, 2026

The source field is now included in CSV and GeoJSON exports, identifying how each record entered the dataset: 'Community Report' (direct submission or confirmed import), '3rd Party / Suspected' (imported from a third-party list or public agency disclosure), or 'deflock' (imported from the DeFlock community ALPR database). The methodology page, data dictionary, and press page now describe all three data origins consistently. The 3rd Party bucket description names the known source lists. The export column reference now documents the source field alongside confirmation_status.

Embedded maps on city pages

City listing pages now include an embedded map showing all reported camera locations for that city, rendered from the same data as the main map. Pins are color-coded by confirmation status. No additional data fetch — the map uses coordinates already loaded for the listing.

Source breakdown on city pages

City pages with records from multiple sources now show a breakdown of where those records came from (Community Report, third-party import, deflock, etc.), with counts and percentages. The source field is now also shown on individual record rows for non-Community-Report entries.

Last record date in city stats strip

October 25, 2026

The stats strip on city pages now shows the date of the most recently added record, making it easier to assess how current the data is for a given city.

Verification standard clarified across all pages

October 25, 2026

The definition of Community Confirmed has been made consistent across the site: it means at least one community member has physically observed the camera at that location and submitted a confirmation. This standard is now stated identically on the methodology page, camera detail pages, the footer, and all FAQ entries that reference it.

Delavan, WI — program cancelled, city readers removed

October 21, 2026

The Delavan Common Council voted 7–1 to cancel the city's Flock contract. City crews removed all nine city-owned readers on October 21, 2026. City page updated with a status notice. Non-city cameras may still appear on the map.

Appleton, WI — contract terminated, cameras offline

July 2026

Appleton asked Flock Safety to disable cameras by June 30, 2026 and terminated the contract in July 2026. City page updated with a status notice. Historical community reports remain on the map.

Methodology: data quality section added

October 2026

The methodology page now includes a dedicated section on how data quality problems are handled: removed or relocated cameras, duplicate reports, inaccurate location or details, and source documentation. Export column definitions now include plain-language caveats for reported_at, confirmation_status, and confirm_count.

About page: editorial standards and correction policy added

October 2026

The About page now includes explicit editorial standards (what we publish, how we handle disputes, how we treat cancelled programs) and a data correction policy (how to flag a record, what triggers removal, what does not).

Record-count history is not available. Changes before this page existed are unknown.

City program status notices

Delavan, WI — Program cancelled, city-owned readers removedOctober 2026

Per TMJ4 News (October 2026), the Delavan Common Council voted 7–1 to cancel the city's Flock contract. City crews permanently removed all nine city-owned readers on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Non-city (third-party) cameras may still appear on the map. View Delavan city page →

Appleton, WI — Cameras reported offlineJuly 2026

Appleton asked Flock Safety to disable its cameras by June 30, 2026 (Appleton Post Crescent, June 25, 2026; NBC26 reported the cameras offline). The city terminated the contract in July 2026 (WHBY, July 16, 2026). Camera pins on the city page reflect historical community reports and have not been removed. View Appleton city page →
