ALPR Cameras Near Denver Law Enforcement

How to Confirm Official ALPR Use Denver

Community reports show where cameras exist, but not who operates them. To get official confirmation, submit a public records request under your state’s open records law.

1. 1Search for “[City] Police Department FOIA” or “[State] public records request” to find the correct form or email address.
2. 2Request “all contracts, invoices, or agreements with Flock Safety, Inc.” and “all ALPR data retention policies.”
3. 3Ask for “all records containing license plate [YOUR PLATE]” to see if your vehicle has been scanned.
4. 4Most agencies must respond within 10–30 business days. Follow up in writing if they miss the deadline.

Colorado has no statewide ALPR retention law, though several agencies voluntarily cap retention at 90 days. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation operates a statewide ALPR network. Denver and Aurora have faced scrutiny over their ALPR data-sharing agreements with federal agencies.
